The wake park in the center of the capital is ready! Wake stars under the stars of the Kremlin Wake park on Revolution Square

Many already know that in Moscow, literally thirty meters from the zero kilometer, as part of the celebration of the 870th anniversary of Moscow, a unique facility dedicated to extreme water sports was opened and is operating - a sports ground consisting of two pools with a reversible winch and an installation for generating an artificial wave.

Skating is available to everyone by appointment. How popular the sites are can be judged by the number of applications, photographs and enthusiastic reviews online using the hashtag #Moscow870.
According to the website dedicated to City Day, In the first 2 days, more than 2,800 people signed up for master classes on wakeboarding and flowriding (riding an artificial wave)!
To avoid queues, the riders of the Trajectory boardshop chose the earliest, gloomiest and rainy morning for riding. What a surprise it was when, contrary to the forecast, the sun appeared and, despite the cool wind, the conditions for skiing turned out to be simply ideal!

If you change clothes in advance, you can save precious time for riding))

Nikita Terskov came to the capital from St. Petersburg for the sake of skiing on a unique spot.

The time of the meeting was agreed upon in advance, and at the appointed hour the team consisting of Pyotr Ershov, Sergei Tarakanov, Roman Tyutyunnik and Nikita Terskov met at the appointed place and went to Manezhnaya Square.

PETER ERSHOV.
He is the youngest rider on the team, but many can envy his competitive experience. More than 10 competitions in the Russian Federation during this short summer with decent results. Peter's skating level is significantly higher than his peers.

The most difficult figure in the Wake Park #Moscow870 is significantly taller than this rider, but skills and sportsmanship allow him not only to cope with the obstacle, but to competently use the plastic iceberg to perform the most complex stunt elements.

Many people know how to glide over figures, but not everyone can handle this by pushing their nose over the entire figure. After the ride, Petya shared: “It’s great that now many people know what wakeboarding is. I’ll bring all my friends and classmates here. From here to my school it’s two metro stops. Look for me here in September!”

SERGEY TARAKANOV.
Well known to subscribers of the Trajectories video channel. His training videos have been watched by thousands of athletes. In winter he blows up snowy slopes, and in summer he cuts through the water surface of spots or rides on brutal street locations.

Despite the day off, Sergei was in a hurry to return to Trajectory and be in time for the opening of the store. Work is work. Therefore, his skating was short and very intense. "A park in the city center. What could be better? Only a free park on Red Square!!! I think this project will allow all Russian wakeboarding to make a leap. Both the park and the reverse installation are good! It’s great that there is such a figure as wallride. In In general, the park turned out to be good - come and try it yourself!

ROMAN TYUTYUNNIK
Experienced rider and award-winning athlete. His sporting achievements can be listed for a long time. The 2017 season is still ongoing, and Roman already has victories in such competitions as the Moscow Championship and the Natalia Rumyantseva Cup.

Roman is the only representative of the wake community who had the honor of carrying the Olympic flame while riding a wakeboard behind a boat.

Roman has been taking part in international competitions for many years, defending the honor of the country as a member of the Russian wakeboarding team.

NIKITA TERSKOV
The most titled Russian athlete at the end of the current season, this year's Russian Champion in wakeboarding, Nikita, as always, demonstrated impeccable style.
He delighted the Chinese delegation, who greeted his every trick with loud cheers.

Nikita's opinion is authoritative for many riders. “The spot turned out to be very cool! It’s nice to see that the site is made convenient not only for spectators, but also for athletes! This is not an ordinary pool with a pipe and a springboard, but a cool park with many different lines! Just 75 meters of water is a park, in which has a quarter, a wallride and two sliders where you can go from one to the other. In a word - fire!

The spot attracted the attention of wakeboarders from different cities of Russia in a matter of days. At the time of writing, a record number of participants have already registered for the competition, which is scheduled for September 8 - 10 - 120 athletes from 22 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. This means there will be something to see on Manezhnaya Square on City Day!

And given the international status of the planned competitions and the applications received from top foreign athletes: Sam de Haan, Ian Curry and Dominic Gurs, the event is a must-attend!
See you at Manezhnaya!

And after the completion of the competition, the sites will be open until October 9!

Wake Park in the center of the capital will open on August 25. Hooray!

In the very center of Russia, literally thirty meters from the zero kilometer, as part of the celebration of the 870th anniversary of Moscow, a unique facility dedicated to extreme water sports will open - a sports ground consisting of a pool with a reversible winch and an installation for generating an artificial wave. This project will certainly go down in the history of Russian and world wakeboarding.

The wake park was designed by SPIN specialists. A special swimming pool has been installed on Manezhnaya Square, consisting of two sections fifty and twenty-five meters long.

A line of figures is placed in the pools and the space between them. Riders will be able to try their hand at two different transition boxes, a double-sided kicker, a rooftop rail and a wide quarter pipe. On the area connecting the pools there is a hefty wallride. The figures were designed specifically for this event by the joint efforts of the SKILLPACK team, which created the Olympic snowboard park in Sochi, and the KINGWINCH Wake System company, an experienced manufacturer of winches, figures and other wakeboard equipment from St. Petersburg. Powerful traction will be provided by a modern reversible winch. The park promises to be interesting for both pro riders and beginners.

The total length of the track for professionals is eighty-seven meters; fifty meters (one section) is the length of the track for beginner riders. The width of the pools is eleven meters, which will allow confident guys to comfortably jib and flat jump. Depth - one meter.

The equipment and infrastructure of the spot will please even the most demanding riders: warm changing rooms, a heated starting area with infrared heaters. The water in the pools will be kept crystal clear by special filtration systems.

The site will be illuminated for night skiing overlooking the Metropol Hotel and Red Square. Our favorite sport is transferred from the surrounding reservoirs to the very center of the city.

Visitors are provided with the necessary rental equipment: wetsuits, boards, vests and helmets. Professional trainers will help beginners get on the board and master new tricks for experienced athletes.

The grandchildren of all riders participating in the revolutionary wake events on Manezhnaya Square will be able to boast of unique photographs of their grandfathers on their boards with the Kremlin in the background. A professional photographer will work at the spot.

On September 8, 9 and 10, competitions dedicated to City Day will be held here, as well as demonstration performances by world stars. Some of the coolest riders in the world are going to attend the competition, such as Dominic Gührs, Sam de Haan And Ian Curry. We will tell you more about the competition later. Registration is now open.

The second important object will be an installation for generating an artificial wave.

Flowboarding is a sport that combines elements of surfing and skateboarding. A rider balances on a special board in an oncoming stream of water. The installation pumps about two tons of water per second!

Professional riders say that flowboarding is unlike anything else and is an independent, unique sport. Anyone can also try their hand at mastering the city wave. On September 9 and 10, demonstration performances and master classes will be held by professional flowboarders from the USA, the birthplace of flowboarding.

At the time of writing, an installation for generating an artificial wave has been installed, the wake park pools have been filled, figures and a winch have been installed.

On City Day, on Tverskaya Street, which will become pedestrian on September 9 and 10, there will be trampolines, a climbing wall, a pump track and a skate ramp.

The SPIN company acted as an expert consultant on the creation of a water festival site and the organizer of international competitions.

The wake park on Revolution Square has two huge pools, one 25 meters long and the other 50 meters and 11 meters wide. There is about 1000 tons of water here, and the depth is only a meter. The water is pure, and to prevent it from stagnating, it is constantly pumped through filters by 20 pumps located around the perimeter. The pools are connected to each other by springboards, on which you can ride from one to another. In short, an excellent place for extreme water sports, which even beginners can do. A halyard is installed above the pool - a reversible winch with a handle, and the skater holds on to it.

The halyard will not let you fall off the board, if, of course, you follow the instructor’s advice,” Ivan Kutuzov, a representative of the organizing committee for preparing the celebration of Moscow’s anniversary, told RG.

However, before the beginner gets on the board and sets off across the water surface, the coach will give him instructions. He will also select a wetsuit and a wakeboard for those who want to ride - a board with bindings-boots of the required size. The equipment also includes a helmet and vest. Then - warm up so that skating does not end with muscle strain. The training time is an hour, which is enough time to learn water tricks.

Nearby, on Manezhnaya Square, another installation appeared - the 12-meter “Artificial Wave”. This simulator simulates an ocean wave and works like this: a powerful stream of water is applied to an inclined surface, and instructors will teach you how to stay on it while balancing on a board. They will also show you how to jump and turn on this board. Have you learned? So, it's time to go catch a real wave without traction and insurance! After such an adventure you will not freeze in any weather. Freezing colds can warm up in a warm locker room.

What a gift, foreign tourists in the center of the capital are surprised.

The site is truly the largest not only in Moscow, but also in Europe for water sports,” says Igor Perov, curator of the “Wake Park” project on Revolution Square. And he continues:

I’m sure Muscovites are already tired of only going to the cinema or riding a bike. Why not try yourself in extreme sports? Of course, there is no sea in Moscow, but now there is a wake park...

Among other things, on these water platforms every day you can also admire a spectacular show program, demonstration performances and competitions with the participation of the world's strongest athletes from Russia, Germany, Holland, Austria, Estonia and Belarus. The main wakeboarding tournament will take place on September 8th and 9th.

For reference:

The entertainment is intended for people of all ages from 12 to 60 years old. You just need to pre-register on the cityday.moscow website. But you shouldn’t come for a ride in a large group - six people can participate on the “Artificial Wave” at the same time, and no more than four on the board. Children under 18 years of age are allowed to participate in sports master classes only when accompanied by adults. Training in the pools is free from 10.00 to 22.00. Registration is open until October 9. You need to bring a towel and slippers with you.

An unusual structure is being built near kilometer zero. Swimming pools 25 and 50 meters long appeared on the site between the Historical Museum and the Moscow Hotel.

Moscow City Day – wakeboarding

The pools were built for City Day to entertain Muscovites with an extreme sport - wakeboarding. The cable pulls the athlete on a special board forward along the waves, and he performs jumps and various acrobatic tricks.

The tanks are located one behind the other, and a springboard is erected between them. Real masters - world champions in wakeboarding - will fly from one pool to another.

It took half a day to fill the pools with 800 tons of water. To clean it, 12 devices were installed that filter 10 cubic meters of water per hour. They will work almost around the clock.

Anyone can ride a wakeboard. Well, if you have never stood on such a board, professional instructors will come to the rescue. And all this is completely free.

Paul McCartney - concert 2003

Red Square often becomes a venue for major concerts and music festivals. For example, in 2010, world-famous musician and DJ Theis Vervest (Tiesto) performed on Vasilyevsky Spusk.

Well, the military music festival “Spasskaya Tower” can safely be called its permanent resident - this year it will be possible to hear military bands from all over the world on Red Square for the tenth time.

And yet, one of the largest concerts in the history of Red Square was the performance of former member of the Liverpool Four, Sir Paul McCartney. Among those who came to listen to the greatest singer and composer live was Vladimir Putin.

Before the concert, the president congratulated the musician on receiving the title of honorary professor at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and noted that Sir McCartney’s work is very much loved in Russia. “Your music was like a breath of freedom,” he said.

Russia vs. USA - the legendary match of 1994

On June 16, 1994, President Boris Yeltsin accepted the proposal of the National Sports Foundation to hold a basketball match on Red Square.

The next day, athletes from the USSR national team, who in 1988 beat the teams of the USA and Yugoslavia and took gold at the Olympics in Seoul, competed in a sports match with veterans of the US National Basketball Association (NBA). A temporary basketball court was installed next to the Mausoleum.

The legendary match ended with the victory of the Russians with a score of 96:74.

Dior mirror cube and the 120th anniversary of GUM

In 2013, the capital's GUM celebrated its 120th anniversary. It so happened that the anniversary turned out to be double - in 1893 the building of the Upper Trading Rows was opened, and 60 years later it was restored and called the State Department Store.

On July 9, this event was celebrated with a Christian Dior show. For this purpose, a mirror cube was erected in front of GUM, in which the building itself and the domes of Moscow churches were reflected.

At the show, models presented the autumn-winter collection of the French fashion house, and after the fashion show, Bryan Ferry performed for all those present.

"Silk Road" – rally raid and freestyle motocross

In July 2011, the Silk Road rally-raid started from Red Square - to the delight of the spectators, the athletes staged demonstration performances in freestyle motocross. That year, riders from 27 countries took part in the competition.

As it turned out, only Russians can overcome Russian roads. In the car rally class, the winners were Boris Gadasin and Dan Shchemel, and in the truck competition - Anton Mirny, Aidar Belyaev and Airat Mardeev.

Ice skating rink on Red Square

Unlike all other temporary structures, the skating rink on Red Square is filled every year. And, despite the fact that the country’s main ice rink is located at VDNKh, the skating rink near the Kremlin walls is very popular among tourists and townspeople.

Last year, world champion Ilya Averbukh spoke at the grand opening of the skating rink. He showed the audience a fragment from his ice show "The Nutcracker".

Well, entry to the skating rink was made for early birds, both on weekdays and on weekends.
