Vixen is a romantic by nature and is in love with her crewmate, Cupid. Santa Claus pretends not to notice the “office romance”; in any case, no sanctions are imposed on the couple.

Cupid, whose name, of course, does not need translation, is mutually in love with Vixen. This is not surprising, since Cupid was born on Valentine's Day. Cupid tries to arrange the personal life of other deer, for which he even publishes a newspaper at the North Pole in which advertisements for dating are published.

Comet- this is the name of a deer that was born at a time when Comet Blorius was in the sky. Comet is one of the youngest reindeer in the “Christmas crew”; he continues to learn the basics of craftsmanship, and in the future he dreams of becoming a teacher.

Donder, or Thunder - the exact opposite of Comet. In contrast, Donder has extensive experience, which allowed him to become an instructor in special deer training.

Donder is responsible for keeping crew members in excellent physical shape and maintaining their diet.

Every year in November, Donder holds a training camp for reservists, who must replace members of the main crew in emergency situations. According to legend, this already happened in the early 1960s - Comet and Cupid, who had lost their form, were taken out of the “base”, and their places were taken by Ralph and Rodney. Of course, no one noticed the change. Having realized their guilt, Comet and Cupid began intensive training and regained their place in the main roster.

Blitzen, or Lightning, is a passionate football fan, plays for Santa Claus's team and therefore very often ends up dirty. Because of this, Vixen washes him with a brush more often than others, which Blitzen really does not like. But Blitzen is indispensable in extreme flight conditions - he is the one who leads Santa Claus’ team if it gets caught in a snowstorm.

Rudolph's Guiding Nose

So, in the classic Santa Claus team there were eight reindeer. However, a hundred years later, the ninth appeared, which very quickly became the most famous and popular.

It owes its appearance to the poet Robert L. May. In 1939, he was working as a copywriter in Chicago when one of the city's largest supermarkets, Montgomery Ward, decided to give visitors advertising brochures containing a funny Christmas story on Christmas Eve.

Robert L. May, starting from the story of Santa's reindeer, wrote his own fairy tale, which featured another reindeer, whose name was Rudolph the Red Nose. Rudolph was not invited to join the team, the other reindeer made fun of him because of his strange shining nose, and the poor fellow's life was full of disappointments.

But one day Santa Claus had to deliver gifts in thick fog. The team risked getting lost and not delivering gifts to the children. And then Santa turned his attention to Rudolph, whose red nose shone brightly in the fog. Rudolf was immediately invited to join the team and quickly became the main figure in it.

It is curious that the customers were dissatisfied with May’s creation and for a long time refused to print Rudolph’s story. So May's boss was worried that a red nose, as a traditional attribute of an alcoholic, would not be suitable for a Christmas fairy tale. However, in 1939, May's poems about Rudolph sold 500 thousand copies. Subsequently, circulations became multimillion-dollar.

The deer's popularity grew even more in 1949, when May's friend (according to another version, relative) Johnny Marks set the poem to music, and the resulting song was performed by singer Gene Autry. Subsequently, Rudolf's story was translated into 25 languages ​​of the world. Since 1964, American television channels have traditionally shown films and cartoons about Rudolph on Christmas Eve.
