How to get from Warsaw to Prague. Warsaw public transport for tourists Warsaw how to get there from the airport

Since Warsaw is a very popular budget destination, I decided to write a detailed guide article on how to get to the airport. Chopin in Warsaw from the city center and back. I have selected the most convenient, comfortable and budget means of transportation from the airport to the center of Warsaw.

Warsaw Chopin International Airport(pol. Lotnisko Chopina w Warszawie) the largest airport in Poland, located 10 km southwest of the center of Warsaw. Warsaw airport address: 1 Zwirki i Wigury. It is the busiest airport in Poland, accounting for 40-50% of Poland's total passenger traffic (16 million passengers per year). Domestic and international flights from 44 airlines fly to the airport. The national air carrier of Poland, LOT, is based here, which operates direct flights from Warsaw to cities in Russia and Ukraine. You can get from Moscow to Warsaw in just 2 hours; the cost of a round-trip Moscow-Warsaw air ticket starts from € 44.

  • Direct flights from Russian cities to Warsaw are carried out from the cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg by Aeroflot, LOT, Ural Airlines,
  • Direct flights from Ukrainian cities to Warsaw are carried out from the cities of Kharkov, Kyiv, Lvov, Odessa.

Do not confuse this airport with another airport in the Polish capital Modlin (Port Lotniczy Warszawa/Modlin), which only receives Ryanair flights. The main airport in Warsaw is Frederic Chopin Airport. Flying from Warsaw Chopin and Modlin airports around Europe is extremely profitable, because... A huge number of low-cost airlines depart from here: Ryanair, Wizzair. In the summer, seasonal charters to Bulgaria, Spain, Croatia, etc. are added.

Not far from the airport. Chopin there are four-star hotels Courtyard by Marriott Warsaw Airport, Hotel Airport Okecie, Novotel Warsaw Airport, where you can stay if you have a connection in Warsaw with a flight, for example, the next day. All of these hotels offer a free airport shuttle. You can book hotels, hostels, apartments in Warsaw at prices lower than booking prices on the Hotellook website (more than 1000 accommodation options).

Airport terminal

At Warsaw airport total 1 terminal – terminal A, which combines the once existing terminal 1 and terminal 2. In the southern part of the terminal there are check-in counters A and B. In the northern part of the terminal there are check-in counters C, D and E. I attach a diagram of Warsaw Airport with public transport stops below.

Currency exchange at Warsaw airport

Even though Poland is in Europe, the currency here is not the Euro. Currency of Poland – Polish zloty. 4.47 Polish zloty = € 1. Acceptable exchange rate € 1 – 4.28-4.40. At the airport there are several exchange offices and banks with not very favorable rates. I recommend that you change money here only if you need it to travel on public transport.

Buying tickets for public transport at Chopin Airport

Tickets for public transport (pol. Zarząd Transportu Miejskiego or ZTM), which includes city buses, metro, trams and SKM trains, can be purchased at the following places at Chopin Airport:

From the center of Warsaw, buses arrive at the upper level of the airport, where boarding is prohibited. Departure is only possible from the lower level of the airport. Travel time by bus to the center of Warsaw is about 25 minutes. Daytime buses run from 04:30 to 22:30. The night bus runs the rest of the time at intervals of 30 minutes.

Below I attach maps of the location of stops and buses and trains going to Chopin Airport in Warsaw.

From Chopin Airport to other cities in Poland and Europe by bus

If, upon arrival at Chopin Airport in Warsaw, you need to take a bus to another city in Poland or Europe, then you first need to get to the Warsaw Western Bus Station (Dw. Zachodnia), where most international buses depart. Zachodnya bus station address: Aleje Jerozolimskie 144. To get to the Western Bus Station, you will need to take any train to the Warszawa Zachodnia stop and walk a little (about 800 meters).

Which cities in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus can be reached from the Western Bus Station in Warsaw:

  • Warsaw - Grodno (from € 25 one way);
  • Warsaw - Kaliningrad (from € 17 one way);
  • Warsaw - Brest (from € 17 one way);
  • Warsaw - Minsk (from € 28 one way);
  • Warsaw - Lviv (from € 13 one way);
  • Warsaw - Kyiv (from € 23 one way).

Which European cities can be reached from the Warsaw Western Bus Station (the list is incomplete):

  • Warsaw - Prague (from € 18 one way);
  • Warsaw - Budapest (from € 49 one way);
  • Warsaw - Vienna (from € 51 one way);
  • Warsaw - Berlin (from € 19 one way).

I always buy bus tickets on the website. I like the fact that in the direction I have chosen, several travel options are offered at the lowest price and at a convenient time. When buying a two-way ticket at once, they give a discount, and the interface is in Russian, which is very convenient.

I would also like to recommend to tourists the profitable bus carrier Polski bus, which is not on the Infobus website, and which provides transportation throughout Poland and Europe at very low prices. For example, it offers a ticket on the popular route from Warsaw to Katowice for €8.5 one way, and a ticket from Warsaw to Krakow for just €3.6 one way.

Taxi from Chopin Airport to Warsaw city center

You can also order a taxi from the airport. It is recommended to only get into the cars of licensed taxi drivers and not to agree to the persuasion of barkers offering cheap transfers in the arrivals hall. Most of them just want to scam you or take you on loops all over Warsaw and make money. In Poland, taxi drivers very often deceive tourists, who sometimes have to pay as much as twice as much for their trip to the city center.

What to consider when traveling by taxi in Warsaw:

  • Do not, under any circumstances, ride in an unlicensed taxi. A licensed taxi must have a driver card, ID. taxi number and meter.
  • Make sure the driver turns on the meter.
  • Pay in a taxi only in Polish zlotys, because... It is not profitable to pay in Euros.
  • The most popular taxi companies at the airport: Ele taxi, Super taxi, Sawa taxi.
  • Rentalcars to visit small Polish towns, travel to the Tatra Mountains or drive to remote castles. Car rental cost: from € 20 per day.

    How to get from Warsaw to the airport. Chopin

    When traveling in the opposite direction, you need to get to the stop of trains or buses going to the airport, purchase a transport ticket and be sure to validate it. The most convenient way would be to get to Warsaw Central Station and take the train to the airport. If you don't want to take public transport, order a taxi.

Poland is a country of incredible beauty and attractiveness, combining the high-tech of modernity and the romantic spirit of the Middle Ages. People come here for romance, for delicious unusual food, for aromatic and fresh beer. They go to live in houses with a long history, sit in taverns at tables where travelers dined hundreds of years ago, drank wine, ate meat with dumplings, and in the backyard grooms watered horses.

The first European trip often begins with this country - it is the closest, it is convenient to get to it by any means, and it is relatively easy to issue a Schengen visa. And the gateway to Poland becomes its capital - Warsaw, from whose train stations roads open to all cities. And, most importantly, the times when traveling around a foreign country was expensive and inconvenient are long gone. After all, modern Poland offers many possibilities on how to get from one city to another.

One of the most popular cities where tourists always go is and remains Krakow. Magical, fabulous, medieval Krakow, as if frozen in the times of musketeers and abbeys. Gorgeous, colorful, amazing. In Krakow, as if in a kaleidoscope, pictures of all times are mixed - the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the romantic twenties and reminders of the difficult times of the war. This city is a must visit and the article below will tell you how to get from Warsaw to Krakow.

Aeroexpress

Aeroexpress travels almost silently, swaying only slightly when turning, and this type of travel can be one of the best, but not the cheapest. If you are at the airport. Chopin and are looking for how to get from Krakow, the easiest way is to get to the Central Station by bus No. 175 (the final stop is at the airport), and at the station itself look for the Aeroexpress. It's not as hard as it might seem. There are many signs everywhere, and you can always ask the station staff for help.

You should buy tickets for it in advance - the sooner the better. If, of course, you are looking for a cheaper way to get from Warsaw to Krakow. Tickets sell out quite quickly, especially for second class seats. If you don't hurry, you can go first class, which is more expensive, but there is almost no difference, only the seats are wider. The drinks offered in both first and second class are the same, and there are individual tables and sockets everywhere.

The Aeroexpress train takes 2.5 hours, non-stop, but is quite expensive; a few days before the trip, a second class ticket will cost you 135 zlotys, and a first class ticket on the eve of the trip will cost 195 zlotys. You can purchase an Aeroexpress ticket either at the box office or online on the website. A nice bonus is that you don’t need to print out a ticket purchased online; you just need to show the controller the QR code on your smartphone screen.

Train

What else can you use besides the rather expensive Aeroexpress? Many tourists wonder: if the route is Warsaw - Krakow, how to get there by train? Is there such an option? Of course there is.

The train takes no longer than the Aeroexpress - only 3 hours. And a ticket for it will cost you nothing compared to the first option - 53 zlotys. The disadvantage of this method of transportation is the very small number of flights. There are only a few trains (Warsaw - Krakow) per day, and tickets for them are often unavailable. Therefore, it is worth acquiring them in advance. You can find out the train schedule for this route and buy a ticket for it online on the official website of the Polish Railways.

The advantages of traveling by train include speed and comfort. Passenger transportation is carried out by Polish Railways, which is distinguished by its reliability. In Krakow, the train arrives at the Main Station.

To get from Warsaw to Krakow, you need to take the Km train from Warszawa Centralna station and get off at Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina station. Trains depart every hour. They are provided by the Polish Railways company.

Bus

Many tourists do not recognize any other option other than this. So, how to get from Warsaw to Krakow by bus? It is convenient, practical, comfortable, although not as fast as by train or Aeroexpress. More recently, tickets for this route of travel could be found for cheap prices - no more than 50 euro cents, but tycoons won the rival wars, cheap “Polish buses” left, giving way to the Flixbus company, and now tickets for the Warsaw-Krakow bus cost from 16 Polish zlotys or from 3.9 euros.

But the advantages of traveling by bus include air conditioning, Internet (WI-FI) and a toilet. The most important thing is that you don’t need to think about how to get from Warsaw to Krakow. The service is available at almost any time of the day. After all, more than 30 buses travel along this route per day, the first of which leaves at about 6 am, and the last - almost at midnight.

Buses to Krakow depart from several bus stations - Metro Wilanowska, there are also several passing routes through Metro Młociny 54, or you can take a bus nearby near the Warsaw Palace of Culture and Technology, which is located in the center.

In Krakow, the bus arrives at the Dworzec MDA station. Tickets for buses can be purchased, as for trains, both at the box office and on the company’s website.

Airplane

If you are looking for alternative ways to get from Warsaw to Krakow, be sure to look at airline websites. A plane ticket on the route Warsaw - Krakow will cost you from 22 to 80 euros one way, and if you book early, you may be lucky and you can spend less than 40 euros for a round trip.

Traveling by plane is the fastest way, taking only 50-55 minutes from one runway to another, but this, alas, does not include the time spent traveling to and from the airport. And along with it, the road, whether by train or by plane, will be approximately the same, but the plane differs from the bus in the main thing - prestige, not everyone wants to be bumpy on the roads, but can afford a fast and comfortable flight.

Taxi

Perhaps the most expensive way. How to get from Warsaw to Krakow? You can travel in a taxi to order. This is clearly not the cheapest option. Because the cheapest transfer from Warsaw to Krakow is economy class cars. For example, VW Golf, Ford Focus, Opel Astra, Audi A3, BMW. Such a trip in a company of 3-4 people will cost you at least 1,100 Polish zlotys or approximately 20,000 rubles. Compared to an airplane, in this case you can buy the entire cabin. But without extra travel companions and with the breeze, in the company of your favorite music and landscapes rapidly passing outside the window.

There are quite a lot of companies providing such services, and you can choose both the car and the route in advance so that nothing distracts you from enjoying the trip.

By car

If you are looking for how to get from Warsaw to Krakow on your own, then traveling by car is what you need. The main thing is to have patience and gasoline. Everyone has their own reserve of patience, but you will need a lot of gasoline, based on a distance of 300 kilometers, approximately 25 liters of gasoline worth 30-40 euros. Travel time is approximately 4 hours, but the pleasure is unforgettable!

If you do not have your own car, then there are enough companies in Warsaw that will provide you with a rental car for a period of one day or more.

On a ride

A very common type of travel recently, both in Europe and in the CIS countries, is hitchhiking. It is economical, fast, and saves the wallet of both the driver, who does not have to pay for gasoline, and the fellow traveler, who does not spend money on a train or bus and practically rides in a taxi.

The most popular service for finding travel companions at the moment is the BlaBlaCar portal, where you can see all the options, choose the best one and talk about everything with the driver. Now hitchhiking has become safe and convenient, you don’t need to go out on the highway and get into a car with people you know nothing about.

The average price that drivers ask for a trip from Warsaw to Krakow is 400-600 rubles, or approximately 25-35 at the current exchange rate. Compared to a taxi, the trip is forty times cheaper, and the conditions are almost the same.

Dangers of traveling from Warsaw to Krakow

The main danger facing tourists on the way from Warsaw to Krakow is, of course, pickpocketing. Alas, even such a modern European country as Poland cannot overcome this scourge. You should be especially careful in public transport and at metro stations, as well as near ticket offices.

Another problem concerns traveling at night. If you decide to travel at night, especially on an overnight train, keep all your valuables in hand, no joke. According to the reviews of most tourists, almost all thefts are carried out precisely at this time, and so cleverly that people do not feel anything, and only in the morning do they notice the loss of cameras, jewelry and money.

So be vigilant, take care of yourself, and Poland will leave only good memories in your memory!

In this article I will tell you how a tourist in Warsaw can deal with public transport. The metro in Warsaw is much less developed than in other European capitals, so tourists usually have questions:

  1. How to get from the hotel to the center of Warsaw? (address: Rondo de Gaulle'a, stop called MUZEUM NARODOWE 05)
  2. How to get to the Warsaw Uprising Museum? (address: Grzybowska 79, Warszawa)
  3. How to get to the Royal Lazienki Park ((Muzeum Łazienki Królewskie)? (address: al. Ujazdowskie 01-999 Warszawa)
  4. How to get to the Wilanów Palace and Park? (address: Stanisława Kostki Potockiego 10/16, 02-958 Warszawa)

These are the main attractions that may interest tourists in the capital of Poland. But there is also an absolutely universal way to find how to get from point A to point B in Warsaw, I will also talk about it in this article. I’ll also tell you how to buy a ticket for public transport in Warsaw.

Here I will remind readers that, according to the Russian folk proverb, the language will take you to Kyiv. In Warsaw, many speak Russian; as soon as we opened our mouths, and our family consists of 4 people and simply cannot remain silent, someone around us immediately began to help us with advice: how to get there, where to get off, how to buy a ticket. Don't be afraid to ask.

Like many European cities, Warsaw has a city public transport router (switches to English). Just enter the address of your hotel (you can copy it from booking.com, where you booked your stay or another similar site) and the destination address (see the points above, where I indicated the addresses for copying) and you will be offered a route by public transport.

Travel time and public transport route numbers will be shown when you hover over the “tram” or “bus” icons.

Travel time and possible transfers are important. Warsaw has several fares for public transport and two zones. I will only write about tickets for the first zone, since the vast majority of tourists still stay in it. Those interested can find information on the second zone on the router’s website.

Ticket prices:

  1. 20 minutes without transfers costs 3.40 zlotys (0.78 €)
  2. 75 minutes with transfers 4.40 zlotys (1.1 €)
  3. All day ticket 15 PLN in the first zone (3.46€)
  4. Weekend ticket from 19:00 on Friday to 8:00 on Monday 24 PLN (5.54€)
  5. Group ticket for 5 people for the weekend from 19:00 on Friday to 8:00 on Monday morning 40 zlotys (9.23€)
  6. Children under 6 years old free

Naturally, in Warsaw there are tickets for a month and even for 90 days, but most of all they will not be able to interest tourists.

Digital displays at public transport stops

Public transport in Warsaw runs on schedule, and digital boards are installed at stops showing how many minutes are left before the arrival of a particular tram or bus.

Once you have decided on the cost of tickets, let's move on to considering purchasing methods.

How to buy a ticket for public transport in Warsaw?

There are several ways:

  1. Buy your ticket from a newsagent, but all kiosks may be closed on Sunday.
  2. Buy a ticket directly from the automatic ticket office on a tram or bus, but not all trams and buses have ticket offices. In such cash registers it is customary to pay with coins. If you need to buy tickets for 4 people, then there may not be enough coins.
  3. Buy a ticket at the automatic ticket office at the tram stop. Such automatic ticket offices are located at many stops, but still not at all. We rode like a hare to the next stop, got out and bought a ticket. At the ticket office at the bus stop you can pay with a credit card, this is very convenient for tourists. Automatic cash registers in Warsaw switch to Russian, so there will be no difficulties in understanding.

This is what an automatic ticket sales station looks like

As soon as you board a tram or bus, you need to immediately validate your ticket. Composters punch the time and number of the route in which you did it.

Trams in Warsaw are air-conditioned, so you will need to press a button on the tram door for the doors to open.

Modern trams in Warsaw

Digital displays are installed in public transport interiors. showing where a given tram or bus is currently located, where you can also see how many stops you still have left to go.

An example of a digital display inside a tram, stops that have already been passed are indicated in gray

How to get to the center of Warsaw

To take a walk around the center of Warsaw, just get to Charles de Gaulle Square (Rondo de Gaulle’a). There is also a monument to the French president in this square, but it is located on the side and is not conspicuous; the main landmark is a large artificial palm tree.

Place Charles de Gaulle

Further along Nowy Świat Street you can easily reach the famous and must-see Krakowskie Przedmieście Street, it is only 750 meters away. Krakowskie Przedmieście Street will lead you to the Royal Palace and the Old Town smoothly flowing into the New Town. Buses run along Krakowskie Przedmieście Street, but I think it deserves a stroll along it.

If it is more convenient for you to use the only line of the Warsaw metro, then you need to get to the Nowy Świat - Uniwersytet station.

I'll tell you in the next article.

How to get to the Warsaw Uprising Museum

The Warsaw Uprising Museum can be reached by trams No. 24, 1, 22 and bus No. 105, the stop is called Muzeum Powstania Warszawskiego.

The nearest metro station is Rondo Daszyńskiego, from it to the museum 550 meters. If your hotel is not served by any of the listed public transport routes, use a router.

How to get to the Royal Lazienki Palace and Park?

The Royal Lazienki Palace and Park Complex is located just 2.4 km from the city center.

How to get to the Wilanów Palace and Park?

The Wilanów Palace and Park are located 10 km from the city center and this is already 20 stops by bus.

Bus routes No. 139, 163, 164, 519, 700, 710, 724, 725, 742, N31, N50

The public transport network is quite developed in Warsaw and even better developed than in St. Petersburg, at least ground transport. In St. Petersburg, standing at a bus stop is not supported by any hope in the form of a timetable board, you just need to wait and not be nervous, sometimes you end up waiting a long time. But our metro trains run at intervals of 1 minute during peak hours and a ticket for travel is much cheaper.

Tips on the cheapest way to get to Warsaw. We are considering different options: by plane, train and bus from different cities.

Moscow - Warsaw: how to get there

The cheapest way to get to Warsaw from Moscow is with a low-cost airline Wizz Air(how good it is that she flies to Moscow!): they have the best tickets - it’s easy to find options for a round-trip flight with a transfer in Budapest for 5-8 thousand (you can make it short or, conversely, stay in the capital of Hungary for a couple -three days).

In general, in the case of low-cost airlines, it is best to look for tickets on the official website, but it makes sense to check the price for the same dates on the Skyscanner metasearch engines and - sometimes an even lower price pops up there.

More expensive - from 9 thousand - are round-trip tickets for flights of Lufthansa, Austrian and Swiss airlines. Finnair and AirBaltic offer air tickets for 10 thousand and above. Prices for tickets from AirBerlin, Aeroflot, AirFrance, easyJet, UIA and Tyrolean Airways (with a transfer in Vienna) start at 11 thousand.

Direct flights without transfers are operated by Aeroflot (from 11 thousand rubles) and LOT (from 12 thousand). Flight time is only 2 hours one way.
